The centre of the Baw Baw Shire is located approximately 100 kilometres from the centre of Melbourne with easy access along the M1 freeway. It is situated in a predominantly rural environment amongst some of Victoria's richest agricultural land.

The Shire is a vibrant and growing region with a population of 38,000, providing a rich blend of residential and business opportunities plus spectacular scenery, snow-skiing, rainforest walks, and production of some of the world's and Australia's best cheeses.
